At Rising Tide Physical Therapy, we can help you get relief from neck pain. Approximately 15% of adults in the US experience neck pain during any 3 month period of time per Mayo Clinic.

Neck pain can be acute or chronic in nature and can affect people of all ages, including adolescents.

Symptoms of Neck Pain

About a third of the patients we see on a daily basis are due to neck pain. Some of the most common symptoms of neck pain include, but are not limited to:

  • Extreme discomfort in the neck area
  • Muscle spams
  • Sharp pain in the neck
  • Soreness and/or stiffness
  • Pain while sitting and/or standing for long periods of time
  • Radiating pain and/or tingling to the upper extremities
  • Headaches that can radiate from the neck to the face
  • Dizziness and balance deficits related to neck degenerative changes

Reasons for Neck Pain

Neck pain is a complex ailment and many factors can be associated with it. As complex as neck pain is, some possible reasons for neck pain include:

  • Broken or fractured bones
  • Herniated discs
  • Osteoporosis
  • Poor posture
  • Weak core muscles
  • Scoliosis
  • Instability of vertebrae
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Athritis/spondylosis
  • Degenerated discs

Relief and Treatment for Neck Pain

Fortunately, you can take measures to treat and help prevent most back pain episodes. There are therapeutic exercises, electrical stimulation treatments, blood flow restriction training, along with learning proper body mechanics. Another option is electrical dry needling which has been shown to decreased muscle spasm, improve blood flow, modulate pain signals to the brain, and reset chronic pain pathways. This enables us to treat a wide range of clinical diagnoses that may be affecting the neck. We will work with you to develop a an individualized treatment plan and home exercise program tailored to your unique needs.
